My Journey Through Art – Kris A. Curran

 

 

My adventure into the world of art began when I was just a child, captivated by the pages of my older brother’s comic books. I would spend hours studying those bold, dramatic illustrations—then trying to recreate them, pencil in hand, completely lost in the process.

 

As I grew older, that passion only deepened. I took every art class I could throughout elementary and high school—drawing, painting, sculpting—if it was creative, I wanted to try it. I fell in love with all of it. Art became more than a hobby; it became a way of life.

 

In my early twenties, I pursued a new path: tattooing. With the encouragement and support of my family and friends, I trained as a tattoo artist and went on to enjoy an almost 20-year career. I poured my heart and soul into that craft, turning skin into a living canvas. It was a career I absolutely loved.

 

Unfortunately, life took an unexpected turn. A medical condition left me blind in one eye, forcing me to retire from the work I loved so deeply. But I wasn’t ready to let go of my artistic journey.

That brings me to today.

 

I decided my story in art wasn’t over—it was simply changing form. I returned to my roots, drawing and painting the things that inspire me most: the celebrities who entertain us and the animals that fill the world with wonder. Each piece I create is a labor of love, a celebration of beauty, character, and emotion.
